On average, U.S. homeowners who make home improvement in 2011 only took 58 cents on the dollar remodeling their home equity, according to the cost versus value survey released on Thursday the renovation of the magazine. It is down sharply from a peak of 2005, when a new project soon regained 76 per cent of the cost of home prices higher.
“The numbers tell us the price be the deciding factor that more and more important,” said Sal Alfano, editorial Director for the renovation of the magazine. “People who do things they should do, instead of the projects that are more discretionary.”
Home improvement projects an average cost of $ 44,734 in 2011; that’s down slightly from $ 45,593 for last year. But resale value fell further, producing the 3 percent decrease in the cost-value ratio.
